Statement on the Beginning of the Consultative Peace Jirga

As the Consultative Peace Jirga begins in Kabul, the United States reiterates our support for an Afghan-led process of reconciliation and reintegration that seeks to bring back into society those who cease violence, break ties with Al Qaeda and affiliated groups, and live under the Afghan Constitution. We wish the Afghan people well as they undertake this important national discussion.
