Announcement of New IEC and ECC Personnel

The U.S. Embassy welcomes the steps taken today by President Karzai and the United Nations to appoint personnel to critical positions within the Independent Election Commission (IEC) and the Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC).

We appreciate the good offices of Special Representative De Mistura in this matter and look forward to working further with him and others in the international community to support an elections process that can deliver a transparent, fair and credible parliamentary election to the Afghan people.
