U.S. Embassy Stands with Afghan Women in Upholding Their Rights and Combating Violence
July 14, 2012
The U.S. Embassy strongly condemns the car bombing which claimed the life of the head of Laghman Province’s Department of Women’s Affairs, Hanifa Safi, and injured a number of civilians, including her husband and daughter. We offer our deepest condolences to the family of Hanifa Safi, and wish for the quick recovery of those who were wounded.
We reiterate our deep commitment to the rights of Afghan women. This murder only strengthens our determination to work with our Afghan friends and allies on behalf of the women of Afghanistan. We stand with them and all Afghan people against the scourge of terrorism and violence.
