Statement Condemning Wedding Hall Suicide Attack

The United States condemns in the strongest terms the suicide attack on Saturday morning in a wedding hall in northern Afghanistan that killed more than twenty people, including Ahmad Khan Samangani, a Member of Parliament, and Ghulam Mohammad Khan, the Provincial National Directorate of Security Director.

We extend our condolences to the families of Samangani and Khan, and to the families of all victims of today’s attack.  This attack will only harden our resolve to work together with the Afghan Government and people to realize a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan.
