English Language Teachers of Afghanistan Association Conference Attracts Teachers Countrywide
The Second Annual English Language Teachers of Afghanistan Association (ELTAA) Conference, took place at Kabul University October 15 and 16, and attracted more than 250 English teachers from across the country. The Deputy Minister of Higher Education opened the Conference, Dynamic Teachers, Dynamic Classrooms, which the U.S. Embassy and the British Council co-funded. In addition to two days of seminars on topics such as “Making Grammar Fun” and “Beginning with Beginners,” conference participants enjoyed a plenary session on “Using Questions to Promote Critical Thinking Skills.” Teachers from Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kapisa, who have fewer opportunities for ongoing professional education compared to teachers in Kabul, commented on the importance of this annual event to promote new teaching techniques.
