Processing Time for Visa Applications

For routine visa applications, the visa will be ready between 2 and 4 PM tow days following your interview. The Consular office is open Sunday through Thursday, you must bring the visa card that officer gave you at your interview with you when you came to pick up your visa.

Administrative Processing:

However, almost every visa application in Kabul requires additional administrative processing. The officer will inform you at the time of your interview if your application will require further processing.

APRROXIMATE WAIT TIMES:

• Diplomatic and Official visas: Two to four weeks.
• Student visas: One to two months
• B1/B2 visas for tourists and business travelers: Four to six months.

Please note that the processing times quoted are averages and cannot be guaranteed. The actual processing time will vary based on the individual circumstances of each case.

You should never pay for travel arrangements before having a visa in your possession. The U.S. Embassy Consular Section accepts no responsibility if you make travel reservations before you have received your visa.  We will not we expedite visa processing because you have fixed travel dates or have already purchased a ticket.
