Press Release on the National Legal Training Center Handover Ceremony

The National Legal Training Center, built with financial support of the Italian Government and equipped with the financial support of the Government of the United States, was inaugurated today in the presence of the Honourable Hazrat Sebaghat-Ulla Mujadedi, President of the Meshrano Jirga and Head of the Reconciliation Commission, the Minister of Justice, H.E. Sarwar Danesh, Justice Babrakzai of the Supreme Council, Prof. Osman Baburi, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, and Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Timorsha Stanekzai,
The inauguration of the Center, which is housed at Kabul University, represents a turning point in legal education and training in Afghanistan. This institution is not only a training center but a new justice institution that will establish standards for advanced and specialized professional legal education, and offer a focal point for donors participating in justice sector reform.
Presently, the Center is hosting the Judicial Stage (professional training) by the Supreme Court for 210 trainee judges.
