Ambassador Crocker Gives Final Press Conference to Afghan Media

On July 15, Ambassador Ryan Crocker held his final press conference with the Afghan media and reflected on his time in Afghanistan, including the major achievements that have strengthened the critical partnership between Afghanistan and the United States, such as the Strategic Partnership Agreement, the Chicago Summit, the Tokyo Conference, and the designation of Afghanistan as a Major Non-NATO Ally of the United States.  While acknowledging that Afghanistan still faces challenges, the Ambassador hailed the country’s progress since 2002. He finished the conference by thanking the journalists for their courage, noting that the foundation of any truly democratic society is a free media.
