Ambassador Crocker and Afghan Officials Inaugurate Road in Badakhshan

June 19, Ambassador Crocker joined Afghan Minister of Public Works Engineer Najibullah Aoudgan and Governor of Badakhshan Province Shah Waliullah Adeeb in cutting a ribbon officially inaugurating the completion of the Keshin to Faizabad road.  The new road, which was constructed by USAID in cooperation with the Afghan Ministry of Public Works, has brought considerable improvements to the lives of local residents.  As Ambassador Crocker noted, it has reduced the travel time to Kabul from days to hours, thus increasing trade opportunities and making it easier for Badakhshan residents to reach universities and hospitals.  The ribbon-cutting and inaugural ceremony were widely covered by both local and Kabul-based press, futher spreading this good-news message of development and cooperation.
