Senator Kerry Pledges Continued U.S. Support for Afghanistan
On December 18 Senator John Kerry spoke at a press conference to Afghanistan’s largest television and radio stations, as well as their main wire service. His remarks covered security, development and humanitarian issues, with reporters’ questions focusing on the widely expected forthcoming build up of U.S. troops. Sen. Kerry stressed that, “there is no military solution in Afghanistan” but that greater security will, “provide Afghans with more options and opportunities for their own future.” The Senator was in town for a 2-day visit to several locations throughout the country and meetings with Afghan and American officials.
