Joint humanitarian operations support RC-W locals
KABUL, Afghanistan (Feb. 9) – ISAF, local doctors and Afghan National Army soldiers worked together in joint operations to give Regional Command West locals supplies and medical aid.
ISAF soldiers loaded about 1.5 tons of hospital supplies and medicine on a truck, provided by the Provincial Public Health Department, to be delivered to hospital facilities in Herat.
Several other operations to support the population have also been carried out recently.
ISAF troops from the Chaghcharan Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) also delivered approximately six tons of flour, oil and rice to families in the most need. Humanitarian aid items were provided by the PRT, Tribal Borders Affairs Department and Rural Rehabilitation Department.
Afghan National Army doctors have also supported ISAF’s Regional Command West medical staff in treating 262 local nationals in the rural village of Taryak near Herat.
These activities are actions ISAF soldiers carry out to support the population of the province and to improve the quality of health care and ease of access to facilities for Afghans, eventually enabling it to face all health necessities on its own.
