Information Resource Center (IRC)
The Information Resource Center (IRC) is part of the Public Affairs Section of the American Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan. The IRC promotes better understanding of the United States of America by providing authoritative, relevant and timely information about current issues, as well as about the people, history, culture, values and institutions of the United States of America.
IRC aims to serve those who, in connection with their work, need information about the United States Government’s foreign and domestic policies, history, culture, and values.
The IRC collection includes reference books, periodicals, scholarly journals, English language collection, CD-ROMs, Video Collection, and electronic databases (Lexis-Nexis, Factiva, EBSCO, Proquest, etc.).
IRC resources are intended to meet the needs of government officials, media, non-governmental organizations, business community, scholars and students, and others with professional-level interest in the United States.
IRC staff will assist with inquiries and research by telephone, and e-mail using the latest electronic resources.
The Information Resource Center is not open to the general public. Journalists, academics, and researchers wishing to visit the IRC must make an appointment by telephone or e-mail. Appointment hours are Sunday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
