Ambassador Eikenberry visits Farah province.
August 10 Ambassador Eikenberry, Minister for Counternarcotics Khodaidad and Deputy Minister of the Interior Daoud traveled to Farah province. Mrs. Ching Eikenberry also accompanied the delegation and visited a hospital and had lunch with local women leaders. Traveling press included Reuters, Ariana TV, Voice of America, Good Morning Afghanistan radio and Emroz TV. During his trip to Farah the Ambassador walked through the bazaar, visited a police headquarters and did a brief interview at the local Farah radio/TV station, which is an affiliate of the state-owned broadcasting company. Local citizens commented to Farah Governor Amin on how pleased they were to host Ambassador Eikenberry in Farah, and to see him in the bazaar talking to shopkeepers.
