Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and U.S. Congressional Delegation Meet with Senior Afghan Political Leaders
“A U.S. Congressional delegation including Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Saxby Chamblis (R-GA), Jim Risch (R-ID), and John Barrosso (R-WY), and accompanied by Deputy Ambassador Francis Ricciardone and Deputy Chief of Mission Christopher Dell, met with Afghan political leaders on April 12. During the meeting, Senator McConnell expressed U.S. support for fair and transparent elections in Afghanistan. The delegation discussed the current situation in Afghanistan with three potential presidential candidates: Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, Anwarulhaq Ahadi and Abdullah Abdullah.”
